What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) came into force in January 2007.
The WEE Directive aims to both reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle and recover it.
The WEEE Directive also aims to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, recycle and recover electrical and electronic equipment.
All electronic systems such as computers, monitors, laptops, servers must be disposed of in an environmentally acceptable way which is governed by the WEEE directive which is in force. Computer monitors such as CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) are particularly hazardous and can not be disposed of in an unlicensed way as there are great environmental issues which need to be Gelan’s computer recycling service enhances your organisations’ environmental credentials by taking obsolete and non-working items, recovering materials and recycling them with no residual to landfill and in compliance with all UK and EU legislation.
